JOSHUA HARPER, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
SOPRANO SECTION LEADER JOB POSTING
The Choral Society of Northeast Pennsylvania seeks its next Soprano Section Leader for the 2026-2027 concert season. The organization seeks a qualified soprano who can lead the section of community singers with sensitive, artistic singing – matching vocal production, tone, timbre, quality, style, dynamics, and blend as indicated by the Artistic Director. They should be able to lead through accurate pitches, rhythms, and vocal production. Section leaders are expected to arrive at each rehearsal thoroughly prepared and confident in the music, leading with a professional, joyful, and respectful attitude at all times. Solo work is possible for certain concerts, as decided upon by the Artistic Director.
Rehearsals are on Monday nights from 6:30-9:00 pm at Queen of the Apostles Parish Hall in Avoca, PA. Section leaders are required to provide their own transportation to and from rehearsals. Music is provided by the Choral Society for all concert cycles. Section leaders are expected to be available for all rehearsals and concert dates, outlined in further detail in the yearly contract offered by the organization.
Interested applicants are requested to fill out the following form (You will need a Google e-mail address to fill out the form. If you do not have one, e-mail joshua.harper@wilkes.edu to submit via another method), which requests name, contact information, a brief one-page resume, and two contrasting vocal samples. If necessary, the Artistic Director will hold in-person auditions on August 15th on the campus of Wilkes University. If invited singers are not available on that date, another alternate date will be arranged between the parties. The Artistic Director reserves the right to not hold in person auditions and to make a selection based upon application materials alone.
